Catholic Church

The shape of the design is inspired by a plant but the essence is about the spirit. The spirit is non material has no shape or body; so we, the people, tend to associate it with physical absence. So the building had to be large and empty and had to have no light, removing everything physical. But it was a church, and a church is a place were is God, and God is good. That brought the problem of to have or not light. Finally there is a little but strong light and the rest is shadow.

The idea of a plant came from the bell tower, it had to be really tall and slender. Then there had to be a lobby for making the transition between light and shadow. The shape began following the function, but then a shell shape came up and the idea of a lot of shells surrounding the bell tower appeared. The rest is history. It was a very tender branch born of a plant, what finally completed the shape. It has no corners, its continuous like the spirit is everlasting.
